Anti-Drug Awareness Campaign under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan at NIH, Kolkata

In line with D.O. No. DP-5/7/2025-DP-III-Part(1) dated 29th July 2025, received from the Secretary, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, the National Institute of Homoeopathy (NIH), Kolkata organized an impactful Anti-Drug Awareness Campaign on 13th August 2025 as part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.

The awareness program was held in front of the NIH dispensary and was attended by over 500 patients, reflecting the seriousness with which the Institute and the community approached the cause. The initiative aimed to reinforce awareness on the harmful consequences of drug abuse and inspire individuals to pledge their commitment towards a substance-free life.

Key Highlights of the Program

  • Leadership and Inspiration:
    The gathering was addressed by Dr. Pralay Sharma, Director, NIH, who emphasized the importance of a drug-free society in ensuring the health and harmony of future generations. Dr. Sharma also administered the Anti-Drug Pledge, encouraging everyone present to dedicate themselves to the mission.

    The event was graced by senior faculty and officers including:
    • Dr. Lalith Singh, Deputy Medical Superintendent
    • Dr. Austin Jose T., Deputy Medical Superintendent
    • Prof. (Dr.) Ompriya Mishra, Head of Department, Gynecology & Obstetrics
    • Shri Pushkar Singh Jat, Nursing Superintendent
    • Shri Ramaprasad Chatterjee, Pharmacist-cum-Dispenser
    Along with them, regular and contractual staff members of NIH actively took part in the program, showcasing the collective commitment of the institution.

The Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan is a flagship initiative of the Government of India that strives to create nationwide awareness about the ill-effects of substance abuse. At NIH, Kolkata, the campaign served both as a sensitization program for patients and as a reaffirmation of the institute’s commitment to holistic health and well-being.
